Conformance status
speysystems.com aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The site is a static site with no dynamic content, no video, no audio, and no user-generated content, which limits the categories of accessibility issues that can arise.
- Lighthouse score
- 100/100 on Accessibility audit (automated, incognito, May 2026)
- Manual audit
- Keyboard navigation, focus management, and semantic structure reviewed by the maintainer. No third-party manual audit has been conducted.
- Screen reader testing
- Not yet conducted with assistive technology users. This is a known limitation.
- WCAG version
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA
Measures taken
- Semantic HTML throughout. Landmark roles (banner, main, contentinfo, navigation) present on every page.
- All interactive elements reachable by keyboard. Focus indicators visible on all focusable elements.
- Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA on all text elements. No text uses tokens below 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
- Touch targets minimum 24px (WCAG 2.2 SC 2.5.8) on all interactive elements including footer links.
- Font sizing uses relative units. Text scales correctly when browser default font size is increased.
- No content flashes, animations, or motion that could trigger vestibular disorders.
- Theme toggle preserves user preference across sessions via localStorage.
- Dark mode support via prefers-color-scheme media query and manual toggle.
Known limitations
- No third-party accessibility audit has been conducted. Automated testing via Lighthouse does not substitute for manual testing with assistive technology users.
- The theme toggle uses a Unicode character (◐/◑) as its visual indicator. Screen reader announcement of this element may vary across assistive technologies. The button carries an explicit aria-label for assistive technology.
- PDF versions of the capability statement (Phase 5 scope) have not yet been produced. PDF accessibility will be addressed when that feature is implemented.
